Development-Operational Processes

Development of appropriate and effective processes for an early/development stage organization is very difficult even in the best of cases. The team is usually stretched very thin and is often not able to devote a significant effort to process development. This is true even though most of the organization recognizes that effective processes are one of the keys Picture of Meeting at Terminal to more efficiently addressing the complex demands made on their organization. Moreover, individual members of the team usually have a wide variety a views about what types of processes are important. Norova helps educate the organization about processes, develop a consen- sus for a process framework, and work through the cross-organizational issues. The proposed processes are carefully tailored to the organization. While in some cases processes are put in place primarily as a control mechanism it is far more effective to establish processes that provide for an efficient work environment. The processes must focus on the unique needs of the organization and be appropriate for the size of the organization. Introducing too many processes or processes that are too complex can quickly destabilize an organization. Norova focuses on the high pay-off process first. Detailed documentation of the processes is useful but not as important as ensuring the processes are understood and supported. Often, a presentation level description is sufficient and the organization can expand and adopt the descriptions as the lessons-learned are incorporated. The tailored processes that Norova develops with the organization will result in an immediate and noticeable improvement in organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
